Outdoor childrens birthday games

Not only did he introduce them to these rapid fill water balloons, he also makes the game even more fun by letting the kids hide outside and shoot behind covers. I already mentioned how much I love watching kids play.

I kind of like the version in movies, when everybody runs in a potato sack. Besides being hilarious, this game encourages cooperation and team play too: a win-win in my book.

But kids love chocolate and beam when they are recognized for their accomplishments. This will totally make their day. Cornhole My son is obsessed with Cornhole.

The time limit of 1 minute is what helps these games be quick and fun for party guests. Here are a few ideas but make sure to visit our Minute to Win It Games for more ideas.

Cup Stacking Races — See who can build a pyramid with 21 solo cups and take it down within a minute. Marshmallow Stack — Try and stack 3 marshmallows using chopsticks. First, create an area in your yard that will be your relay track. Then make relay wands out of a paper towel roll. You can paste construction paper on the roll so that each team gets a different color.

Next, break the kids up into small groups so they are evenly matched. Have the kids decide the order each team member will race. Line the kids up and say go. The first person on the team runs the track and then hands the wand to the next teammate. The next person then runs the track and hands off the wand. You do this until all the team members have run. The Balloon Pop Race is a hilarious game that only needs some chairs and a bag of balloons.

Divide the kids up into even groups of kids. On one end of the room put a line of chairs to match the number of groups you have. Then on the other end of the room have a start line with the kids lined up with their groups. When you say GO the first kid races with their balloon to a chair, places it on the chair, and needs to pop the balloon by sitting on it. When they pop it they run back to their group and the next kid goes. The first group to get all the kids to pop their balloons on the chair and make it back to the start line wins.

Another simple game to play is Balloon Stomp. To play Balloon Stomp tie a long ribbon to the end of a blown-up balloon.

When a balloon bursts that child is out. The game ends when the last person with a balloon still blown up is left. They are the winner of the game. We like to use the Escape Room Geeks Printable sets. It has everything you need for the game already created for you. Next, break the kids up into teams and give them an area to sit in the yard to work as a group. Then read the storyline to all the kids.

After that give each group the set of clues to try and solve the puzzle to break out of the escape room. The escape room sets are created by age group so you can find one that will be easy enough for all ages at the party. The game will work for kids aged years old. Create a backyard obstacle course. This is easier than you think.

Use items that you already have in your garage to lay out around the yard. Here are a few ideas. America Ninja Warriors has a cool backyard obstacle course you could set up. We really loved the American Ninja Warriors full ropes course we set up in our backyard. The kids used it for a party and then kept playing with it all summer. Line the players of each team up at the starting line. Give the first team member the hoop to stand inside, holding the hoop at waist level with their hands.

The second player then joins the first inside the hoop and together they run to the marker and back, repeat, adding one team member each time the hooped runners return to the starting line. The first team to cross the finish line with all of their team having run to the marker and back in the hoop is the winning team. Centipede Tag: Players are divided into two teams.

The person at the front of each line is the head of the centipede, the player last in line is the tail. Peg a sock or handerjerchief to the waistband of each tail. Mix up the teams between rounds for lots of wriggly fun. Toilet Tag: it is the plumber in this fun chasey game.

If tagged by the plumber the other player must kneel on one knee with one arm held out to the side. Tagged players must stay frozen in this position as a toilet until another free player comes and sits on his knee and pushes down on his arm to flush the loo!

The flushing unfreezes the toilet player to rejoin the game. Play until all players are frozen or until time is called and then a new plumber can be nominated. Very large groups may wish to start each round with two or even three plumbers. Paper, Scissors, Rock, Run! Line the two teams up facing each other a good distance apart. For each round, each team must secretly decide whether they will be Paper, Scissors or Rocks the entire team must choose just one.

The losing team paper beats rock, rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper must race back to their home base line with the team members from the winning team trying to catch them.

Anyone caught must join the opposition team for the next round. Everyone who is tagged must join hands on one end of The Blob! Eventually you will end up with a big group of kids chasing down just a few.

They can become unstuck and re-joing the game when another free player scoots under their legs. The free player cannot be tagged while they are under a stuck player. Play until all players are stuck in the mud or until time is called and a new It can be chosen. Very large groups may wish to start each round with two or even three nominated to start as It. Scarecrow Tag: The instructions for this classic tagging game that works well with larger groups can be found here — How to Play Scarecrow Tag.

Tails: Another fun tagging game, find the instructions for play here — How to Play Tails. Balloon Dare: Pre-prepare a collection of inflated balloons, each with a small piece of paper with a dare written on it. Players take turns to choose a balloon, pop it and complete the dare.
