I can now support almost three times the wind load, but I just can't justify replacing the C3SS. About two years ago the B-1 Balun failed open, so I just took it out. The center of match changed a little on 20M, but it works just fine. No change on 15M or 10M. I can't dispute the comment in an earlier post that the advertized performance on 17M and 12M may be a little overstated.
I also think the advertized front-to-back may be overstated, but I don't care. About a year and a half after putting up the C3SS I started chasing paper for the first time.
I now have Honor Roll in less than 9 years, with nearly all the new ones on this antenna. That's performance that's hard to argue with. A friend of mine recently performed comparison testing against a Cushcraft A-3, both on the same tower at the same location under the same conditions.
His evaluation is that the C3SS is the winner in everything but front-to-back ratio. Yes, it's pricey. But spread that cost over 12 years with the chance for Honor Roll on your wall and see what you think. Hi, I've had this antenna for about 1 year and i must say i'm very happy. The performance is very good, although i must say i did replace the balun with a home made coax balun which did improve the performance a lot.
Its a light, well made antenna and has been up in some of the Highlands worst weather without a problem. Works very well on 10m,15m and 20m but does do well on 17m for me, i've worked everything i've heard! I have had some other good beams including the KLM KT34a which was good but i would say i like Force 12 and it'll be here for a while. One other thing is the support from Force 12 is great!!!. More than 12 Months.
There is a delay before newly submitted reviews are Approved and posted in eHam's reviews. The delay is for new review screening and approval. The delay varies from minutes to a day or more. If using an anonymous eHam user ID for submitting reviews be aware of a recent court ruling regarding identity disclosure of writers of false reviews. Don't review home brewed equipment or home-brew copies of commercially made products. Reviews are limited to one review per product per reviewer. Edits will go thru the review Approval process. Do not submit a product review criticizing another review or reviewer.
Review authors should be able to share their product experience and opinion without being publicly criticized. In the interest of maintaining objective product reviews for all review readers, requests to remove Approved product reviews may be declined by eHam. Customers and product users will add your product to a product category listing and write reviews when they are ready to share their product opinion.
If a manufacturer would like to announce or raise awareness for their product eHam suggests writing a brief News release and submit it to eHam's News.
Click the News header on Home page then look for Add News button. It's a conflict of interest for manufacturers or their employees to review their own products.
Those reviews will be removed. Do not offer rewards for positive eHam product reviews. Offering rewards for good reviews can create bias in reviews that savvy review readers can detect. All have continued to run perfectly under the new host s. With the problems Yahoo has been having with their Groups system and their apparent lack of interest in really supporting the service I have decided to transfer the group to a new service called Group.
Hello All I am new to assembling antennas made from aluminum tube and I find the latest instructions on force12 website confusing, as there is no pictures of the assembled antenna and the instructions. When I first installed the dipole on the tower by itself the swr's were fine. But after I installed the XR6 it seemed to. Does anyone have experience converting a wire loaded C4 40m element to the newer coil loaded element? Bert N8NN. Original can be found here QRZ.
